The Finger Lakes region of New York has been a boater's paradise since the Iroquois Nation were the residents. Boats and boating have been central to life in the Finger Lakes since before white settlers arrived. One man in a fishing boat, visitors delivered to resort hotels by steamer, the fruit harvest heading to market, sailboats racing, elegant yachts…the design, construction, and use of boats is a fascinating history of the lakes, canals, communities and people in the Finger Lakes. And this heritage is fast disappearing.

 The Finger Lakes Boating Museum is committed to preserving this history and its artifacts. The Museum was provisionally chartered by the New York State Department of Education in 1997.  We are a not-for-profit 501C3 corporation

 Our mission is to "collect, preserve and interpret objects relative to boating and boating history...within the Finger Lakes Region and to research, document and disseminate information showcasing boating in the region".

 Presently, our Collection includes more than 115 boats built in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, as well as many related artifacts. Our growing archive contains extensive information about the boat building industry within the region.

 We do not yet have our permanent facility open to the public. However, we are aggressively working with the City of Geneva to partner with them to build our permanent home. In the interim, we display portions of our collection at various venues throughout the region each year. Check our calendar for upcoming events.
