BUILD YOUR OWN BOAT

In conjunction with the Finger Lakes Boating Museum’s 2009 theme Homemade Boats, the Museum is offering an opportunity for families to build their own boat. FLMB is launching the perfect starter project to get you and your family on the water in your very own wooden boat this summer! FLBM is excited to offer its first ever Family Boat Building course. This course is designed for anyone who enjoys boating and would like to spend quality time with a family member. Families will build the 12 foot Bevin Skiff, s sturdy little flat bottom row boat.

The construction of the Bevin Skiff will take three days, with an optional fourth day to add personal touches to your boat. Students will learn to safely use a number of hand tools and a limited number of small power tools. All materials and tools will all be provided by the Museum. Look at www.flbm.org for more information!

Anyone can participate in this event! Parent-child building teams are encouraged but anyone with an interest in building this boat is welcome!
