This rowboat was built by Charlie Ernst during the 1930s. The boat exhibits many of the features characteristic of Ernst's boats: extensive use of mahogany, riveted construction, hidden deck fasteners, fine joinery. Additional ribs have been added over time to compensate for wear. Notice the center rowing seat supported by runners, a feature offered by several Keuka Lake builders. This enabled the rower to trim the boat by repositioning the seat to accommodate various cargo requirements. |
