Penn Yan Guide Canoe

Penn Yan offered the model GES Guide Canoe from 1935 through 1947. Designed with lower bows to reduce wind disturbance and 18 ft length to accommodate large cargo requirements, the canoe was a favorite of campers.

The photo on the left shows the condition of the canoe when received by the Museum.

In 2006 the boat underwent an extensive restoration in our Boat Shop. Stems, decks, gunwales and keel were replaced, as well as some ribs and sections of planking. The seats were re-caned and the interior was refinished. New canvas was applied, filled and painted using a color similar to the original factory finish (Khaki with a red stripe).
