Penn Yan Decked Flier Trailboat (GTD)

Penn Yan introduced the 14 ft. Flier in 1948 as part of their new Trailboat series. (Previously the Flier designation was associated with a 13 ft. boat in the CarTop® line.) The Flier was considered to be top-of-the-line, offering a high-speed planning hull that enabled the boat to “go places in a hurry”. The boat was constructed with Penn Yan’s Heavy Composite system, and was available with or without a foredeck.

The Decked Flier shown here was built in the 1950s, and initially used on Seneca Lake. In the 1960s she was acquired from a marina on that lake by a family who then used her extensively at their camp on Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks for many years. In 2011 she was donated to the Museum.
