Thompson Flat Bottom Outboard Rowboat

The Thompson Boat Company offered the Flat Bottom Outboard Rowboat from 1924 through 1943. Available in 14ft and 16ft lengths, the boat was equipped with redwood seats and constructed with lapped cedar side and bottom planking over white oak frames. Thompson claimed that the boat was a favorite of fisherman and duck hunters.

The boat shown here is a 14ft model (13ft-7in LOA), built in Thompson’s Cortland, NY factory. She was donated to the Museum in memory of the late Robert N. Thompson, by his niece. Mr. Thompson managed Thompson's Cortland plant from the late 1940s until its acquisition by Chris Craft in 1962.
