Thompson Light Weight Rowboat

Thompson introduced the Light Weight Rowboat in 1937. The boat was initially offered in both clinker and strip plank (bead and cove) construction versions.  The boat was planked with cedar, screw-fastened to white oak frames, and outfitted with redwood seats and mahogany transom. The following year the clinker version was dropped in favor of a canvas covered model. The boat continued in the Thompson product line through 1960, known variously as the Cartop Boat and eventually the TVT Take-Along Rowboat.

This boat was purchased by the donor’s father in the late 1930s. It is the strip plank model, and was donated with the Sea King outboard motor originally acquired to power her. The horseshoe-shaped aft seat has been removed, and will re-installed when the boat is restored.
