The Thompson Boat Company is thought to have introduced the Zephyr Outboard Rowboat in the early 1940s. Initially offered only in the 14 ft length, the model line was eventually expanded to include 12 ft and 16 ft versions.
Thompson employed their famous compressed seam construction technique (bead & cove) in the manufacture of the Zephyr, which they claimed would produce a water-tight hull for the life of the boat.
This 14 ft boat was built in Thompson’s Cortland, NY factory, and spent most if not all of her life on Canandaigua Lake prior to being donated to the Museum in 2011. |
