Finger Lakes Boating Museum From Our Collection
Charles Ernst Troutboat

This rowboat was built by Charlie Ernst during the 1930s. The boat exhibits many of the features characteristic of Ernst's boats: extensive use of mahogany, riveted construction, hidden deck fasteners, fine joinery. Additional ribs have been added over time to compensate for wear. Notice the center rowing seat supported by runners, a feature offered by several Keuka Lake builders. This enabled the rower to trim the boat by repositioning the seat to accommodate various cargo requirements.
