Finger Lakes Boating Museum From Our Collection
Edwin Long Outboard

Edwin Long, Naval Architect, designed and built sailboats, cruisers and outboard powered boats in his shop on Irondequoit Bay in Rochester from the 1920s until WWII. By the time he left to supervise the construction of military craft for the government in 1941, he had built 334 boats ranging in size from 8 to 34 ft. in length.

The boat shown here is 15 ft-7 in. LOA, built in carvel fashion with planking clench-nailed to steam-bent oak ribs. The boat’s last owner had begun restoration prior to donating her to the Museum.
