The famous Penn Yan Swift first appeared in the 1950 catalog, and was offered continuously through 1962. Available in 10ft., 12ft, 13ft. and 14ft. lengths at various times, this sleek craft was advertised as a “stock utility outboard racing runabout”. Rated for outboard motors up to 33 hp, the Swift quickly became known as “the sports car of the waterways”.
The boat shown here, the popular 12ft. CZT model, was purchased from Penn Yan Boats, Inc. by the donor’s father-in-law, and was used extensively at the family cottage on Waneta Lake. Following many years in storage, she was donated to the Museum in 2011. |
