Brainard-Bilt Sailboat

The Brainard-Bilt Boat Company produced a line of wooden fishing boats, inboard and outboard runabouts, and sailboats in Trumansburg, NY from 1938 – 1941. The 14ft carvel-planked centerboard sailboat shown here was donated by a family who owned and sailed the boat on various waterways in New York State and Florida over a 35-year period. Brainard offered a standard line of boats, many of which were designed by founder/owner Fred Brainard. The company also built boats to custom order. We have not yet determined the model designation for this boat, and would welcome any information the reader can provide.
