Morehouse Comet

The Morehouse Boat Company began building Comet sailboats in 1938. Over the next thirteen years they built 58 of the popular 16 ft centerboard sailboats. Shown here is the Museum’s Comet, #2602, built in 1949. The boat is planked with red cedar over spruce frames, and carries spruce spars.

She underwent extensive restoration in the Museum’s Boat Shop in 2006.
