Penn Yan Captain Kid Sloop (KS)

In 1932, the Penn Yan Boat Company introduced a trio of “Children’s Playboats”. Built using Monowood construction and ranging in length from 7ft – 8ft; the offering included the Captain Kid Sloop (model KS), the Indian Chief Canoe (model KD) and the Jack Tar Rowboat (model KR).  The Captain Kid Sloop, the most costly of the trio, carried a list price of $47.50 in 1932. These Playboats appeared in Penn Yan’s catalogs through 1938. While production records are not available, undoubtedly surviving examples of these little boats are quite rare.
