1000th Skaneateles Comet

Skaneateles Boats Inc. began building Comets in 1935, three years after the boat was designed by C. Lowndes Johnson. By the end of WWII the company had produced well over 900 of these popular 16 ft sailboats. In 1946 Skaneateles built their 1000th Comet, # 2240. To commemorate this significant milestone the boat was extensively photographed and displayed in promotional literature of the day. The accompanying photo showing the factory crew with the boat is one of those taken back then.
