Our Future Home
In September, 2009 the Boating Museum entered into an agreement with the City of Geneva, NY to partner with them in the establishment of a combined Museum/Visitors’ Center complex planned for construction on municipally owned property on the west shore of Seneca Lake. The Geneva Chamber of Commerce and the public boat launch are presently located on this 11.4 acre site. The City plans to replace the present Chamber building with a new facility comprising approximately 24,500 SF of space. The Museum will occupy approximately 80% of the building.
In May, 2010 the city issued an RFP (request for proposals) seeking design concepts for the new facility. Twelve architectural firms submitted design proposals. A review panel consisting of representatives from the city, the Chamber of Commerce and the Boating Museum then evaluated these submissions and recommended that Hanlon Architects of Fairport, NY be engaged to design the facility. In October, 2010 the Geneva City Council approved this recommendation.
This project is being enabled by a $2.0M grant secured for the city by NYS Senator Michael Nozzolio.
We'll be located at the top of Seneca Lake
