The Finger Lakes Boating Museum received a huge boost recently with the announcement of a $450,000 grant to the City of Geneva to support fit-out and startup of the Museum. The Boating Museum reached agreement with the City of Geneva in the fall of 2009 to establish a permanent home on the Geneva waterfront in association with the city's Visitor Center.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced the grant as part of $785 million awarded through the Regional Economic Development Council initiative to drive economic growth and create jobs in the state.

Coupled with a grant of $2 million provided to the city by State Sen. Michael Nozzolio and fund raising by the Museum organization, the project is well on the way toward its funding goal.

The Finger Lakes Region was awarded $68.8 million for 93 projects. The region's plan built on existing natural resources, among other things, and focused on the region's existing collaborations between public and private institutions.
