Since our founding in 1997, the Finger Lakes Boating Museum has been funded almost entirely by the generous support of members and friends who believe in our mission to preserve and share the boating heritage of the region. Between donations, memberships and volunteer power, we have made a dream a possibility. Your ongoing support continues to be vitally important as we move forward in establishing a world class museum facility in our historic building in Hammondsport, NY.

The Finger Lakes Boating Museum is dedicated to preserving the boating heritage of the Finger Lakes Region. This is enabled in part through the acquisition and display of a representative collection of boats and related objects that were used here for commercial and recreational purposes throughout our history. With few exceptions these boats were built within the region by commercial builders (someone engaged in the business of building boats). Along with these we have a growing collection of related items such as boat building tools, motors, fishing supplies, etc. that were either used to construct these boats or employed in their use.
