While the Finger Lakes today are mostly pleasure boats both big and small, the Finger Lakes of the 1800's and early 1900's were bastians of industry and transportation. Without roads, cars or trains, people depended almost entirely on steamboats for transporting themselves and their goods. This book outlines the history of the "golden age" of steamboats  and the impact they had on the economy and soceity around the Finger Lakes.
