Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the per-student cost? Is there a fee for our teachers?
The cost per student is $4 for the 2024-25 school year. All school staff are free to attend. Parent chaperones who are supporting student supervision (see below) are also free. We prefer that schools come prepared to pay admission for students in one transaction at the time of the field trip.
How long should we plan for our field trip experience to FLBM?
Our program typically runs two hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., however, we can accommodate both timing and duration upon request prior to field trip.
What time/where can we arrive?
Schools can arrive when the Museum opens at 10 a.m. In some cases, earlier arrival time may be arranged in advance. Drop off and pick up will be at the top of the driveway at the main entrance unless otherwise requested prior to visit. There is space across from the main campus for buses to park if necessary.
What about lunch?
If you would like to bring bagged lunches, we have spaces to accommodate up to 75 students/adults in both indoor and outdoor spaces dependent on the weather. Lunch time is not included in the two hours reserved for programming. PK-2 students are encouraged to have a snack available to them during the program.
Our whole grade level would like to come to FLBM- how many students total can we bring at one time?
We currently have the capacity to accommodate for max 60 students at a time. However, we do offer split days/times if larger classes would like to break into segments.
What support do you provide for students with disabilities?
Please let us know in advance specific needs and concerns you have for individuals students or adults. Most of our areas in the Museum are handicapped accessible and ASL support may be available by request.
How many parent chaperones can attend and what is the admission per parent?
We can welcome a total of 75 people including students. We recommend one adult per 10 students to supervise and guide their participation for the younger levels. Adults in excess of the 1:10 ratio are requested to pay the group admission fee of $8 per person.
